City Link buys Warrington distribution depot

Express delivery company City Link has acquired the former MFI distribution facility at Lyncastle Road, Warrington.

City Link, which is part of Rentokil Initial, will use the premises as a new regional distribution depot.

The Manchester office of property agents Colliers CRE agreed the simultaneous surrender and freehold purchase of the 66,393 sq ft property on behalf of Galliform Corporate Services.

Brian Birtwistle, formerly of property consultant DTZ, acquired the freehold of the site on behalf of City Link for an undisclosed sum. City Link said the acquisition forms part its strategy to improve the service it gives to customers by creating regional hubs and upgrading its depot network.

Julien Kenny-Levick, director, industrial and logistics at Colliers CRE Manchester, said: "This transaction proves the demand for quality facilities in strategic locations and shows that the appetite for freehold property is beginning to return, albeit at discounted levels in comparison to the market peak."

City Link has vacated its former 21,839 sq ft distribution depot at Appleton. DTZ is the agent on that site, which covers 1.48 acres.
