Cibitas wins consent for 4,300 homes in Holt Town Waterfront

Manchester City Council and Cibitas Investments have completed the Section 106 Agreement that marks final planning approval for Holt Town Waterfront, the largest ever planning application to be approved by the city.

In December 2007, the council said it was minded to approve the outline planning application submitted by former English Partnerships development director David Shelton's Cibitas, subject to completion of the Section 106 Agreement.

Over the next 10 to 15 years the 95-acre site, less than one mile east of Manchester city centre, will be transformed with 4,300 new homes in a mixture of houses, family apartments and duplexes.

A new river valley park, a Metrolink tram stop, a primary school, office accommodation and a range of shops, bars and restaurants will also be delivered.

Holt Town Waterfront is next to the Sportcity development in the area overseen by urban regeneration company New East Manchester.

Cibitas was supported in the planning negotiations by Berwin Leighton Paisner, Eversheds and GVA Grimley.
