Cibitas given more time

The massive Holt Town waterfront housing development planned by Cibitas has had its planning consent extended by three years.

Manchester City Council initially granted consent in 2008 for 4,300 homes to built on 95 acres, at the time the largest application to be approved by the city.

Cibitas, founded by former English Partnerships directors Sir Alan Cockshaw and David Shelton, also plans a new river valley park, a Metrolink tram stop, a primary school, office accommodation and a range of shops, bars and restaurants.

Holt Town Waterfront is next to the Sportcity development in the area overseen by urban regeneration company New East Manchester.
