The construction of a medical facility on a vacant plot at Matrix Park, an industrial park at Buckshaw Village, is targeted to start in April subject to planning consent.
The application, submitted by WW Medical Facilities, a Yorkshire-based firm run by Neil Whittingham and Martin Williams, have been recommended for approval by South Ribble Council next week. by.
WW Medical Facilities proposes to build a centre comprising an operating theatre and recovery suite, MRI suite and outpatients suite.
A 90-space car park is to be located to the south of the site in Chorley.
The 80,000 sq ft plot is bounded to the south by Easton Avenue, the north by Dawson Lane and the west by Wigan Road.
The 24,000 sq ft facility would be flanked by an unspecified number of two-storey office units to the east, and the three storey Rutherford Point office building to the west. The offices are home to housebuilder Anwyl Homes and engineering firm Roger Bullivant, among others.
A letter of objection from Cowan & Co Building Consultancy, which has its offices at Matrix Park, highlights concerns over a potential increase in road traffic that the development could bring, which Cowan believes would “further compound” pre-existing issues related to parking.
The project is recommended for approval when the council’s planning committee meets next Wednesday, and it has a projected completion date of 2021.
