Chetham’s makeover gets planning go-ahead

Manchester City Council has granted detailed planning consent for the 100,000 sq ft new school building for Chetham's School of Music next to Victoria Station.

The scheme was designed by Stephenson Bell and project managed by Drivers Jonas.

The enabling works package is currently out to tender, with works scheduled to start in September 2009. The main contractor is expected to be appointed in the New Year to construct the £23m scheme.
