Cheshire sets out MIPIM ambitions

Cheshire and Warrington has set out its intention to send its “biggest and best delegation yet” to MIPIM 2019.

At a launch event hosted by Knights 1759 in Wilmslow, Victoria Merton, director of corporate affairs at Peel and chair of the Cheshire & Warrington MIPIM steering group, said: “MIPIM Cannes is the world’s premier property event and offers unparalleled opportunity for Cheshire and Warrington to reach a global network of potential new partners.

“The theme this year will be global partnerships – we’re part of the Northern Powerhouse, we’re part of the UK, but MIPIM is a real opportunity to meet people from other cities and other countries.

“This will be the region’s third delegation and the biggest and best yet, as we build on our experiences and learn from previous years. Our aim is to make sure that the region itself is recognised for new, clean energy technologies for innovation, for its automotive and for it being a place the people want to live work and play.”

MIPIM 2019 takes place between 12 March and 15 March in Cannes. The delegation is being led by the Cheshire & Warrington LEP, with Cheshire West & Chester Council, Cheshire East Council and Warrington Borough Council, with support from Marketing Cheshire.

In 2018, 20-plus organisations joined the Cheshire and Warrington delegation.

Christine Gaskell, chair of Cheshire & Warrington LEP, said: “We have a great story to tell in Cheshire and Warrington with some outstanding projects and a cohort of committed and enthusiastic supporters.

“We hope to encourage widespread engagement both from those attending MIPIM and other companies across Cheshire and Warrington who want to support our vision.”

Katrina Michel, chief executive of Marketing Cheshire, is the main contact for companies interested in joining the delegation.

Cheshire & Warrington LEP is one of the sponsors of the Place MIPIM Closing Drinks, on Thursday 14 March, along with Buttress, Equiem, Taurus Security Group and Constructing Growth. Register your interest in this event by emailing events@placenorthwest.co.uk
