Cheshire packaging site set for residential

Manchester-based HOW Planning has submitted a planning application for a new residential development in Winsford, Cheshire.

The outline application was submitted on behalf of landowner Ian Harty, the former managing director of Richmond Packaging, which ceased trading on the New Road site in February 2008.

Lauren Ashworth, planner at HOW Planning, said: "The plans for Richmond Packaging will transform a redundant site which at present isn't making any positive contribution to the town into a thriving new community. If planning permission is granted we believe this residential scheme will kick start further new development in the area as part of the on-going regeneration of Winsford."

The proposed scheme of 37 homes on a two-acre site falls within the Winsford Waterfront Regeneration Area is designed to fit the council's strategy for redeveloping the area.
