Cheshire East to hold tourism workshops

Cheshire East Council is inviting local businesses to attend a free course about enhancing the experience of visitors to the destination.

The course is being run by the council and tourism management organisation, Visit Chester & Cheshire, with the aim of getting local leisure and tourism businesses to develop pride in and an awareness of Cheshire East's tourism offering.

The course, called the Cheshire East Welcome, is open to businesses such as tourist attractions and hotels, as well as restaurants and retail businesses.

Topics covered include practical advice on dealing with visitor-related enquiries, information about the Cheshire East tourism product and its impact to the local economy, and information about the role of Visit Chester & Cheshire and Cheshire East Council in promoting the destination.

Cllr Jamie Macrae, cabinet member with responsibility for prosperity, said: "The success of the Cheshire East tourism product depends hugely on local businesses working together to create an enhanced experience for visitors.

"These courses are an excellent opportunity for businesses to brush up on their knowledge of the area's tourism offering and share ideas on how to deal with visitors-related enquires."

The course will run on the following days and times:

  • Thursday 17 March, The Crown Hotel, High Street, Nantwich, 9:30am-1pm
  • Tuesday 5 April, The Windmill, in Whiteley Green, near Bollington, 9:30am-1pm

The council said places will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis.
