Cheshire East Council is looking to appoint a contractor to deliver its £25m Poyton relief road, a new route linking the A6 Airport Relief Road to the A523 by Adlington Travelodge.
The 3km single carriageway secured planning permission in January 2017 and passes through both Cheshire East and Stockport Council areas.
The route runs from a new roundabout junction linked to the A523, past Adlington Business Park, then past the Woodford Aerodrome and under the A5149 Chester Road before linking with the recently-opened A6 Manchester Airport Relief Road.
It forms part of the South East Manchester Multi-Modal Scheme [SEMMMS] which both Cheshire East and Stockport Councils consulted on this summer.
Cheshire East is looking to invite five contractors to tender for the project with a winner chosen in January next year. The design-and-build programme is expected to take 27 months with the road likely to open in 2022.
