Change of use at Bury retail park lands Farmfoods

Farmfoods has signed a 15-year lease on a 10,000 sq ft unit at Moorgate Retail Park in Bury after securing a change of planning use to allow food retail.

Savills advised landlord Charities Property Fund on both the letting and planning application.

The frozen food specialist is paying £100,000 a year rent for the building, which was formerly occupied by Comet.

Moorgate Retail Park is located off Derby Street, next to The Rock shopping centre. The park contains five units in total, the remaining four of which are let to Home Bargains, Carpetright, Halfords and KFC.

Charlie Greenhalgh, out-of-town retail director at Savills, said: “Following a successful planning application for change of use, we are pleased that Farmfoods will be opening a new store at Moorgate Retail Park. It will strengthen the Park’s offer by adding a new dimension to the tenant mix.”

Farmfoods was represented by Peter Martin & Co.
