Change at top of RICS Bolton

Mark Lamoury, a chartered quantity surveyor and partner at Deacon & Jones LLP, has replaced his colleague Robin Fletcher as chairman of RICS Bolton Local Association, a networking and support group for local surveyors.

The RICS said Lamoury has been a long-time, committed member of the branch and excelled as a member of the group's committee, helping to organise social events and sharing his expertise and knowledge with members. He replaces Fletcher, also a partner at Deacon & Jones, who was chairman for the past year.

Lamoury's responsibilities include encouraging members to discuss business, market and economic issues, as well as policy issues from a local perspective. He will also work with the committee to plan social events for members and link with local colleges and universities to raise awareness of the surveying profession.

He said: "I'm delighted that I've been appointed as chairman. Our members come from a wide range of sectors – from commercial, residential to rural – so we have a wide range of knowledge, and going forward I will encourage more local surveyors to join us and increase their contacts.

"Building relationships is hugely beneficial, especially in the current economic climate, as business opportunities based on referrals or introductions can often be developed and it's always good to swap knowledge and keep learning."

Jennifer Welch, director of RICS North & Midlands, said: "Mark's skills and extensive experience, coupled with his enthusiasm, will prove invaluable to members of the RICS Bolton LA so he is definitely the right man for the job and I'm sure he will excel in the role."
