Champagne bar to anchor Harvey Nichols’ Beauty Bazaar

The upmarket retailer has released details of its lavish 22,000 sq ft concept store due to open in Liverpool ONE in the late autumn.

Beauty Bazaar, Harvey Nichols will be the 'ultimate luxury beauty experience and the UK's first, one-stop destination for all things beauty'.

The 22,000 sq ft store will trade on three floors. The ground floor will house beauty, skincare and fragrance brands including Chanel, YSL and Estée Lauder and Tom Ford Beauty, NARS, Crème de la Mer and Shu Uemura, M.A.C, Bobbi Brown, Jo Malone, Sisley, Laura Mercier, Shiseido, Dermalogica, Bliss and Escentric Molecules. There will also be a beauty personal shopping service to help customers choose the best make-up for them.

The first floor of the store will be dedicated to open treatment services, including Mark Woolley's Electric Hair Lounge, a Blink Brow Bar and a Lash & Nail Bar. Harvey Nichols Beyond Beauty, BeautyMART, Carita, ESPA and The Organic Pharmacy, all exclusives in Liverpool, will also enjoy dedicated areas within this space.

There will be a Champagne & Cocktail Bar on the first floor, billed as a 'lavish all-day destination in its own right'. The floor to ceiling glass frontage ensures it will be the new place to see and be seen.

The second floor will offer a 'more discreet range of treatments in designated private areas' including unisex waxing by STRIP and spray tanning, whilst Beyond MediSpa will cover more specialist services including, teeth whitening, permanent makeup, botox, fillers and body contouring treatments.

Daniela Rinaldi, director of Harvey Nichols, is leading the development of Beauty Bazaar. She said: "Globally, this will be the first time international and premium brands will be housed within such a luxurious environment, anchored by a fabulous Champagne and Cocktail Bar, to ensure that Beauty Bazaar is an experience like no other. We have created a true lifestyle experience where guests can meet friends and appreciate beauty in an aspirational, educational and service-driven surrounding.

"This new direction in retail will return beauty to the luxury proposition that the category once enjoyed; a feel-good experience that will deliver the very best collection of prestigious, niche and exclusive brands and services."

London-based graphic and interior design agency, Four IV, is delivering the store design. Chris Dewar-Dixon of Four IV, said: "Beauty Bazaar, Harvey Nichols is no ordinary destination. The concept has been entirely built upon glamour and sophistication; it will be an environment that inspires, with an overwhelming breadth of products and services to stimulate the senses. It will allow you to be you and help define what beauty means to you."

Miles Dunnett, head of asset management, Grosvenor Liverpool Fund, added: "Liverpool ONE is the perfect place for Harvey Nichols to launch such an exciting new concept. It sits at the heart of the most charismatic, passionate city in the UK, if not Europe, with an unrivalled love of all things beautiful. Liverpool ONE shares the same energy and outlook, and so we are very excited to be playing host to what is certain to be a sector-defining concept.

"Harvey Nichols' choice of Liverpool in which to launch this concept is not just about the city's character though; it is also a great reflection of just how highly regarded Liverpool has become by the very best brands."

Joseph Wan, chief executive of Harvey Nichols, added: "Last year, Harvey Nichols witnessed an extremely strong year of trading, which brought with it record profits, beating the previous high achieved in 2007/8.

"Beauty is an extremely resilient category that is holding up well despite the downturn and the launch of this new concept has evolved from plans to find new avenues for innovative growth. Beauty is the last area in which people rein in their spending during difficult times and we are confident that this concept will be a success and provide us with the opportunity to exploit a gap in the market for standalone, luxury beauty stores."

So….no quality restaurant, brasserie or food shop which was what we wanted and needed in Liverpool One. Just a shop for WAG’s and wannabes, typical.
