CDP plans hotel above Jamie’s

Plans submitted by Deloitte Real Estate on behalf of Commercial Development Projects for a hotel development in the Midland Bank building in King Street, Manchester, have been granted consent.

CDP will create a 66-room hotel with public bar and restaurant. The lower floors are already occupied by Jamie's Italian.

The grade 2*-listed building was designed by Edwin Lutyens and completed in 1928. HSBC vacated in 2008.

John Cooper, director at Deloitte Real Estate, advises CDP. He said: "These plans provide the chance to really open up this fantastic building to the public. It's great news for the area and a boutique hotel will perfectly complement the surrounding shops and restaurants. King Street has had a mixed fortune over the past couple of years and this development will give the area the boost it needs."
