Casey starts on affordable homes for Viaduct Housing

The Casey Group has begun work on site in Bredbury to construct 60 new homes for Viaduct Housing Partnership.

The project at Stockport Road East is a joint venture between Casey and Viaduct. It will consist of 60 houses and apartments that will be available for shared ownership sale or affordable rent through social housing provider, Stockport Homes.

Cllr Sheila Bailey, cabinet member for communities & housing, Stockport Council explained the purpose of Viaduct: “The purpose of setting up Viaduct Housing Partnership was to build as many affordable homes in Stockport as possible. I am delighted that this new development between Casey and Viaduct will see 48 houses and 12 apartments built for shared ownership or affordable rent. I hope that between the Council and Stockport Homes we can give as many people as possible an opportunity to live in Stockport”.

Chris Casey, managing director at Casey, said: “This joint venture between Viaduct and Casey brings much needed affordable housing to Greater Manchester. We are delighted to be involved in this partnership with Stockport Homes and look forward to delivering this innovative project”

Casey, which is based in Rochdale, is able to provide in-house expertise for the civil engineering works required in the site preparation, and the new-build housing works. Site preparation works are expected to take 20 weeks, with housebuilding to commence in October 2017 for completion in December 2018.

Ken Lee, member of Stockport Housing Company and chair of the Viaduct Housing Partnership echoed the views of Cllr Sheila Bailey. He commented: “This exciting new development is a great opportunity to deliver more quality and, importantly, affordable homes to Stockport and we are sure that the new Viaduct partnership will provide many opportunities in the coming years to develop even more homes.”
