Care home beats auction guide price by £185,000

A former Manchester care home sold for £185,000 above its guide price at Edward Mellor's latest auction, achieving £535,000.

The building on St Werburgh's Road, Chorlton-cum-Hardy, was guided at between £350,000 and £400,000.

Other lots sold at the Edward Mellor and Roger Hannah event included a semi-detached house in Crompton Road, Burnage, which was guided at £75,000 but sold for £129,000.

A large six-bedroom detached house on Rectory Road, Crumpsall, also beat its £180,000 guide price by selling for £220,000.

Of the 97 lots entered for the sale at The Point, Lancashire County Cricket Club, more than £4m worth of property was sold.

Edward Mellor's next auction will be on Wednesday 30 October.
