Capenhurst plans £80m expansion

Capenhurst Nuclear Services is looking for a contractor to provide design, construction and commissioning for an £80m facility in its nuclear-licensed Cheshire site.

The construction of the legacy cylinder facility is part of Capenhurst's hazard reduction programme and will deal with the management of uranium hexafluoride. The facility is expected to be open by 2020 with a lifetime of 25 years, dealing with 24,000 tonnes of material during that period.

Capenhurst Nuclear Services is a wholly owned subsidiary of Urenco UK and its tenant at Capenhurst. Urenco is currently building major new premises at the site, which it acquired from the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority in 2011.

The deadline for receipt of tenders is 3pm on 21 July 2014.
