Call for potential development sites

Knowsley, Sefton and West Lancashire Councils are carrying out a joint 'call for sites' exercise.

The councils say the exercise will help to identify land or premises that may be suitable for housing or employment use and will update the authorities' Local Development Frameworks.

Each submitted site will be assessed against various criteria to determine its suitability for development. However, putting a site forward does not guarantee that a council will allocate it or support its development in the future.

The final site assessments, including whether sites are considered suitable for development, will be published later in the year when people will have an opportunity to comment on them.

Any sites put forward as part of the 2007 exercise should not be re-submitted as they will not be reassessed and any sites in the Green Belt will not be considered at this stage.

A separate Green Belt study is being carried out to assess land in the Green Belt for potential future development uses. More information is available here –www.sefton.gov.uk/greenbeltstudy

Anyone wishing to find out about suggesting a site can see full details at www.sefton.gov.uk/jointcallforsites or you can call 0151 443 2211 (Knowsley) 0151 934 3555 (Sefton) or 01695 585274 (West Lancashire).

Sites should be submitted to the relevant authority below by Friday 16 July 2010 and should be clearly indicated on a map with clear boundary line.
