Calderpeel Architects opens in Liverpool

The Altrincham-headquartered practice has launched a Liverpool office with plans to focus on projects in the city centre residential market.

Calderpeel has taken space at the Avenue HQ building in Mann Island. The office is headed by locally-based architects Patrick Taft and Adam Granby.

Ewen Miller, managing director of Calderpeel, said: “Liverpool is a city known for doing things differently and that’s the ethos of our firm too. We believe we have something unique to offer and want to work with developers and the local authority to assist in the city’s ongoing regeneration.

“In particular we feel we can bring our experience of working at the top-end of the private residential market to some of the higher-density developments and apartment schemes.”

Taft said: “We will offer clients big ideas and a high-quality service. We’ve been planning this move for some time and we’ve done our research. I’m from Liverpool and I live in the city centre. Adam is from Widnes and we both went to university in Liverpool. We understand the city, its people and development landscape.”

Granby added: “With RIBA North recently locating here and other national and international practices also having a presence, the city’s architecture scene is booming. We feel we have a role to play in complementing and adding to the expertise already here.”

Taft has been at Calderpeel since 2012, with Granby joining in 2014.

The Liverpool move comes six-months after the business opened a city centre office in Manchester. Calderpeel also has offices in Sheffield and Surrey and employs 30 staff.
