Cadishead resi to be reworked following refusal

Plans from Lane End Developments and NC Developments to redevelop a two-acre plot off Liverpool Road into 58 affordable homes were labelled “disjointed” by Salford City Council, which rebuffed the proposals. 

A decision notice issued by the authority said the developers’ scheme “would fail to enhance or positively contribute to the street scene and would compromise the amenity of future occupiers”.  

The city council cited the inclusion of four retail units within the development as another reason for refusal. Salford said it was concerned that the 4,400 sq ft of commercial space could have an “unacceptable impact on the vitality of the existing Cadishead and Lower Irlam neighbourhood centres”. 

Lane End and NC Developments plan to resubmit a revised application in the coming weeks, it is understood.

The site was previously occupied by The Lion pub, three industrial units and an art centre. However, all of the buildings have now been demolished. 

Paddock Johnson Partnership produced initial designs for the project but that scheme is understood to be different from the one that has been refused.
