The developer is moving forward with proposals for a 600,000 sq ft industrial scheme in central Lancashire, after concluding a consultation last month.
Caddick Developments has lodged an application with South Ribble Council to build the scheme in Farington. It would feature a mix of industrial, commercial and logistics space ranging from box-box distribution units, mid-box production and warehousing and smaller office units for local businesses – totalling 612,500 sq ft.
The proposed development, on a 40-acre site next to Lancashire Business Park in South Ribble, is anticipated to create hundreds of jobs and provide a boost to the local economy, responding to rising demand for logistics space in the region, the developer said.
Known as Farington Park, the scheme would be located close to the M65, Junction 29 of the M6 and J9 of the M61, at the centre of Lancashire’s motorway network. As well as providing good road transport links, it would be accessible via existing public transport and improved pedestrian and cycle routes.
The site is allocated for employment use in the South Ribble Local Plan and is the largest employment allocation within the borough. Agencies Cushman & Wakefield and Knight Frank have been appointed to market industrial units off-plan to prospective occupiers.
