Caddick plots 612,000 sq ft of Farington sheds

Caddick Developments has opened a consultation on proposals to build a series of industrial units on a 55-acre site next to Lancashire Business Park in South Ribble, and aims to submit a planning application this autumn. 

The developer wants to transform the historic landfill site in Farington to deliver what it describes as a “significant commercial development” that would create around 800 jobs, boosting the local economy.  

The South Ribble Local Plan identifies the site as the borough’s largest single employment land allocation, accounting for 64% of the total allocated supply of new employment land, according to Caddick. 

The 612,000 sq ft project aims to provide industrial, storage and distribution space of varying sizes. 

The proposals come at a time of especially high demand for industrial space, according to a report last month by consultancy Savills. 

Under Caddick’s plans, the industrial units would be integrated with 11 acres of public open space and enhanced green infrastructure. 

NJL Consulting is the planning consultant for the project.
