Bury College plots £8.6m health campus

The 27,000 sq ft healthcare and digital technologies hub would be completed in September 2022 subject to planning approval.

Designed by architect Wilson Mason, the £8.6m facility would be built on the site of the vacant Peel Health Centre off Trinity Street, which is to be demolished under the plans.

Bury College is currently consulting on the proposals, which feature a laboratory, simulated hospital ward, and simulated domestic home, as well as a digital environment and IT suites.

The development is aimed at offering students the opportunity to train in a range of areas and “prepare them for industry in employment sectors of key importance to Bury and Greater Manchester economies”, according to the college.

Mosaic Town Planning is the planning consultant for the project.
