Burger & Lobster comes to Manchester

The restaurant chain is to open its first Manchester outlet in Ship Canal House, on the corner of King Street and Brown Street.

The Russian-owned Goodman Restaurant Group has lodged a planning application with Manchester City Council to convert most of the vacant ground floor of the grade 2-listed building from offices to a restaurant.

The proposals are for a 167-cover restaurant, alongside a 45-cover bar.

The ground floor suite is 7,434 sq ft.

Burger & Lobster has six restaurants in London, and is expected to open a seventh in New York later this year.

Design LSM submitted the application on behalf of Goodman.

WHR is the agent for Ship Canal House. Owner Himor Group put the 72,500 sq ft building on the market in June with a £25.5m price tag.
