Burberry expands in New Cathedral Street

Burberry is expanding its presence on New Cathedral Street in Manchester to 5,470 sq ft as it responds to increased demand for its luxury products.

The retailer previously occupied 3,720 sq ft. The value of the deal is undisclosed.

Another New Cathedral Street tenant, LK Bennett, has extended its contract to occupy its store beyond 2020.

Meanwhile, shoe retailer Dune has also signed up for larger premises at Manchester Arndale.

Part of New Cathedral Street, as well as the adjacent Manchester Arndale Centre, is owned by Intu Properties and Prudential, who are represented by letting agents Tushingham Moore and CBRE.

Manchester Arndale and New Cathedral Street are managed by PRUPIM.

Ed Sellick, director of asset management for retail at PRUPIM, said: "It is exciting for Manchester that retailers continue to recognise the city centre as a thriving shopping destination and with such a strong retail line up at New Cathedral Street and Manchester Arndale, we are seeing shopping in Manchester to grow from strength to strength."

Briant Champion Long acted for Burberry and MMX Retail acted for LK Bennett.
