BT and Tesco execs join MIDAS

Two influential North West businessmen have joined the board of Manchester's inward investment agency, MIDAS, in non-executive roles.

Mike Blackburn, BT regional director North West, and John Clarke, the regional property executive for Tesco, will join figureheads such as Michael Oglesby of Bruntwood, Keith Alderson of the Co-op Bank, and Malcolm Edge of KPMG in securing new investment and employment for the region.

Blackburn has spent the last 15 years at BT while Clarke, who is a qualified chartered surveyor, leads Tesco's North West property office in Manchester city centre.

Michael Oglesby, chairman of MIDAS said: "It's important that MIDAS, as the inward investment agency for the city region, benefits from the experience and knowledge of Manchester's top private sector business people.

"Mike and John are both experts in their fields with much experience and advice to offer as MIDAS works to continue its success in attracting substantial investment to the city region."
