Bruntwood’s Hatch to treble in size

The developer’s food and drink offering on Manchester’s Oxford Road is to expand in the summer with additional leisure, retail, studio and events space.

The expansion will add around 9,000 sq ft to the site stretching under the Mancunian Way, in addition to the first phase, which has around 2,500 sq ft of F&B and retail space, with occupiers including beer bar Ol and coffee shop Takk. The first phase opened in December 2017.

The second phase’s F&B offering will include a mix of anchor tenants and pop-ups based in converted shipping containers, including Vietnamese street food operator Hanoi 75, which will be housed in a converted double-decker bus.

Phase two will also include 10 shipping containers to house an extended retail offering targeted at independent operators, along with flexible workspace.

There will also be a focus on events with a stage, rooftop DJ terrace, and a multi-purpose events space.

The expansion is set to open in June this year.
