Bruntwood unaffected by fit-out firm’s collapse, says Crowther
Bruntwood has issued a statement regarding the reported collapse into administration of fit-out contractor Sustainability Inc, which had been working for the developer-landlord on a major project in Birmingham.
Peter Crowther, managing director, said: “We understand that Sustainability, the Manchester-based construction specialists have entered administration. Bruntwood have 40 years experience of refurbishing commercial property and as such the delivery of our 110,000 sq ft Cornerblock scheme in Birmingham city centre will not be affected.
“The reinvention of Cornerblock is a strategically important project, not only for Bruntwood but also for Birmingham, offering new and exciting opportunities for businesses to connect in the city. As we are already 17 months into an 18 month programme, the delivery of Cornerblock is not dependant on the operational capabilities of Sustainability.” The scheme is due for completion this summer.
Calls to Sustainability’s Middleton office are going through to a recorded message, while the firm’s Twitter feed, once busy with images from projects delivered for clients including Capital & Centric and One King Street owner EPIC UK, has not reported any updates since January.
The business is still listed as “active” on Companies House, and reported operating profit of £891,501 for the financial year to 30 April 2016, on sales of just over £12m. Those accounts were signed off on 9 January 2017 by Cowgill Holloway. Over the course of that financial year £623,680 was paid out in directors’ dividends.
Sustainability Inc has worked on a wide range of projects covering offices, industrial, retail, leisure, education and healthcare. Testimonials on its website include contributions from Castlefield Estates, Chapman Taylor, FootAsylum and Bagel Nash.
