Browns Construction Group in administration
The 150 year old construction group was placed into administration on Wednesday.
Paul Stanley and Jason Greenhalgh, from Begbies Traynor, were appointed joint administrators.
Browns, which is owned by Headcrown Group, was previously located in Bollin House on Oakfield Road in Cheadle Royal Business Park, near Stockport.
The company's previous projects have included residential developments at schemes at Cheadle Hulme School and North Manchester General Hospital, as well as Plymouth Grove and Castlefield Locks, Manchester.
It is believed around 12 of the 20 staff remaining were made redundant, but a spokesman at Begbies declined to give any further details when contacted by Place.
Browns Construction Group, which was established by Levi Brown in 1860, underwent a restructuring in July with the business being absorbed into another subsidiary of Headcrown Group, the Warrington-based Cruden Group.
No one was available from Browns Construction Group and Headcrown Group declined to comment.
