Brock Carmichael expands Liverpool office

Liverpool-based architect Brock Carmichael has expanded to take the entire 8,000 sq ft of its Old Hall Street office after adding 11 new members of staff in the last five months.

The practice added seven staff in September, including four architectural assistants. Sonja Ishak joined from Day Architectural in Manchester; Chris Grey joined from Broadway Malyan; while Toby Bachra and Nick Gilmovitch both joined as graduates. Jonathan Farrell also joined as an architectural assistant from Atelier 2.

In the same month, the group also added two architects: Cecilia Chu, and Thomas Greenhill, who joined from Lewis & Hickey Architects in Manchester.

These appointments were followed by the arrival of three more graduate architectural assistants in October – Emma Gibson, Jack Cheung, and Thomas Chuter.

In November, the group also added senior architectural technician Tim Wellman, who joined from the Manchester office of Day Architectural.

In response to growing the business, Brock Carmichael has now expanded its space at Old Hall Street to cover all four floors, totalling 8,000 sq ft. The practice’s projects in Liverpool include Hive City Docks at Liverpool Waters, and the revamped proposal for the New Chinatown site at Great George Street.

Managing partner at Brock Carmichael Chris Bolland said: “We firmly believe that our strength is our diverse team and our collaborative working methodology and we are delighted to welcome our new members.

“They continue the balance of youthful enthusiasm, innovation and time served experience, ensuring we can deliver our current pipeline as well as deliver new opportunities.

“We’re really excited by our office plans and look forward to creating a space that fosters our creativity, reflects our culture, facilitates the delivery of our professional service and provides a positive working home for our team.”
