Brewer sets sights on Liverpool
The founder of renowned craft ale outfit Neon Raptor is looking to advance plans for a brewery with associated bar at the King Edward Triangle site on the northern fringe of the city centre.
Adam Henderson founded Nottingham-based Neon Raptor in 2015, but left the company last year, with Companies House recording his departure as a person with significant interest in August 2020.
Documents filed with Liverpool City Council outline plans for a 6,768 sq ft unit, currently used as storage space, to be converted into a microbrewery with ancillary shop, tasting area and bar.
The company name used by Henderson for his new venture is Azvex Brewing Company, and the fledgling firm’s application relates to 18 Gibraltar Row, in the King Edward Triangle industrial estate owned by Peel L&P.
The King Edward properties sit within the wider Liverpool Waters area.
Azvex’s change of use application states: “The brewery produces high-quality beer with a focus on modern, progressive beer styles” and that the development will support six full-time equivalent jobs locally.
According to a blog posted by Henderson – a control systems engineer before turning to brewing – he is working with Bespoke Brewing Solutions on the manufacture of a four-vessel brewhouse system.
Other businesses based at Gibraltar Row include axe-throwing attraction Hatchet Harry’s, which along with car hire business Easirent, signed for space at the site in July 2020.
I suppose that means the end of any development by Peel for it’s Liverpool Waters project?

Good to see inward investment in Liverpool, and an addition to the ever increasing craft brewing scene here.
However Gibraltar Row was, I think , meant to be the site of the Shanghai Tower, or would be a good site for other apartment blocks.
Maybe Peel are concentrating on development inside the dock wall, and if so why don`t they dispose of this site to another developer, as it`s currently worthy of better use than single storey industrial units.

Great for the city that area is becoming a mini destination in its own right. Other breweries, gyms, and even axe throwing? I’m sure Peel will have redevelopment clauses in all these lettings for when they bring forward King Edward Triangle
