BrewDog makes Manchester hotel move

The craft beer company is looking to open a hotel in Manchester next year as part of a wider roll-out of its beer-themed mini-hotel offering.

Although the location is yet to be disclosed, the company is planning to open the hotels above existing bars; BrewDog currently operates two sites in Manchester, one on Peter Street, and another on Oxford Road.

The company is due to vacate the Peter Street site, where it is based in the ground floor of Scottish Mutual House for seven years, and will be relocating to Fountain Street, opposite Kier’s 11 York Street office development, early next year.

The “BrewDog Kennels” hotel concept is focussed on a boutique operation of between two and six rooms. These will be above the company’s bars and are to feature draft beer in each room, a beer fridge in the shower, a record player, and options including Brompton bike hire.

BrewDog’s first in the concept is to open at the company’s Aberdeen Castlegate bar, and builds on the DogHouse Hotel based at the company’s brewery in the US.

Further hotels are set to open in Paris, Berlin, and London.
