Law firm Brabners has hired Andrew Waugh to lead its 95-strong real estate team from the company’s Manchester office.
Waugh will fill the role vacated by Paul Firth last April who left to join Milton Keynes-based practice EMW Law.
His appointment comes as the firm looks to strengthen its focus on the Manchester market and grow its client offering in the city and wider North West region into development, construction, investment and property management, agriculture and residential.
Waugh has held roles at a number of household names within the region’s property community including Urban Splash, where he spent three years as commercial director between 2005 and 2008 and Jon Matthew’s Architects where he is currently commercial director.
Waugh is also owner and director of private real estate group 53N which he founded in 2008.
Nik White, managing partner at Brabners, said: “We’ve seen a significant uptick in clients needing timely counsel across the firm since the outbreak of coronavirus and Andrew’s arrival will no doubt have a positive impact on many of those conversations in the weeks and months ahead.”
“In addition to his legal credentials, his in-depth knowledge of client investment cycles is invaluable and will be a major asset to both the team and our clients at this important time.
Waugh said: “We are ultimately in the midst of a period of great challenge across the property industry. As such, I consider it a privilege to lead a team that has real strength in depth and is influencing important decisions across our core markets in the North West.”
Brabners has offices in Manchester, Liverpool and Preston. Its clients include Peel L&P, TJ Morris and property developer Glenbrook.
