Bourne appointed to park and ride contracts

Transport for Greater Manchester has awarded a £4.2m contract for the design and construction of three park and ride facilities to Bourne Construction Engineering.

Bourne, which is headquartered in Poole, Dorset, will build decked car parks for Transport for Greater Manchester at Radcliffe, Whitefield and Hazel Grove.

The Radcliffe and Whitefield contracts relate to park and ride schemes at Metrolink stations on the Altrincham-Bury line, while the Hazel Grove park and ride scheme will serve a train station.

The contract was awarded in 2011 but funding was cancelled in one of the government's spending reviews. Alternative funding has now been secured.
