Cheshire-based Pochin Developments is hopeful of further land deals at its 385-unit residential development in Ellesmere after Bloor Homes and McCarthy & Stone started to build out their plots.
Pochin sold 2.43 acres to Bloor Homes and 1.2 acres to McCarthy & Stone last autumn and both have now started on site. Bloor Homes is building 36 homes in a mix of three-, four- and five-bedroom styles. Bloor also has an option to buy a further 2.75 acres at the same scheme, room for 40 homes. Retirement specialist, McCarthy & Stone, is building 59 one- and two-bedroom apartments.
Tony Newton, land director of Bloor Homes, said: "Ellesmere is a beautiful town and our development, known as Heron's Watch, presents an exciting opportunity for us. We only started on site recently but are experiencing strong demand and can confirm we have already taken a good number of sales from the first phase of development."
Pochin has outline planning for 385 residential units. The scheme centres around a public square and is anchored by a Tesco supermarket and medical centre. Ellesmere is 12 miles south of Wrexham and 30 miles from Chester.

We have received a great deal of interest from a variety of potential developers and we are delighted to be working with Bloor Homes on this element of the scheme. It is really beginning to take shape and I've no doubt that Ellesmere Wharf will make for a pleasant waterside home."
Liverpool-based property consultants Rees Straw advised Pochin. Will Rees, director of Rees Straw, said: "Ellesmere Wharf comprises 18.7 acres of mixed-use development opportunities on a canal-side location. It is close to Ellesmere town centre where there are a variety of local amenities and educational facilities. The development also benefits from improved public realm and infrastructure, enhancing the public space and creation of development land parcels."
