Blackpool tenders for £15m office contract

Blackpool Council and development partner Muse Developments are tendering for a contractor to build new offices for the local authority as part of the first phase of its £220m regeneration scheme in the town.

The £15.3m single stage design and build contract covers shell and core and fit-out for around 85,000 sq ft of offices.

The office building will anchor the wider Talbot Gateway project that proposes to create 330,000 sq ft of offices alongside a 90,000 sq ft supermarket, four hotels, shops, cafes and restaurants around Blackpool North Station and Talbot Road.

The council added that the building will provide additional areas at ground floor no less than 6,885 sq ft of office accommodation with 7,665 sq ft of retail accommodation.

Blackpool Council and Muse Developments are also tendering for refurbishment of a multi-storey car park as part of the first phase the regeneration scheme.

Any interested companies need to request pre-qualification documents for the construction of the office block by Tuesday 5 July. Deadline for submitting tenders is Wednesday 13 July.

North West Development Agency withdrew funding for the Talbot Gateway scheme last year and Muse and the council were also unsuccessful in gaining funding for the overall project in the first round bids to the Government's £1.4bn Regional Growth Fund in April.
