A Changing Blackpool originally launched as a photo blog with the goal of using photography to highlight the changes that have taken place within the town. Supporting the blog are a Facebook page, Twitter feed and Flickr group which serves as an online library of all the images.

The photographs are now available to view on the map with a point showing exactly where they were taken. The images show the same location before, during and after regeneration work and provide background information about the projects. The map also includes aerial images and photography from Blackpool residents taken during the recent celebrations for Blackpool FC's promotion and submitted through the Flickr group.

Mike Appleton, chairman of the Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre Economic Development Company, said: "The Changing Blackpool Google map is incredibly simple but a surprisingly effective way to explore the changes which have taken place and provides context as well as showing exactly where in the town the improvements have been made.

"It's easy and fun to explore but the real beauty is that it will grow over time. In the same way the Flickr group will become an archive library of all the photographs, the map will chronicle the changes, allowing residents and visitors to look back and see how far we've come.

"A Changing Blackpool has been a wonderful campaign for us so far. We've succeeded in reaching Blackpool residents through our Facebook Page, encouraged by the support they've shown and desire to see the town change for the better, while through LinkedIn, we've been able to reach potential investors from all over the world."
