Blackpool health centre reaches financial close

Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust has completed contract negotiations with a consortium led by Vinci Construction and Sir Robert McAlpine on a £40m mental health centre in Whyndyke Farm, Blackpool.

The Harbour development will provide a new inpatient unit with 154 beds and a psychiatric intensive care unit.

The consortium includes Deloitte Real Estate as project manager and Gilling Dod Architects. The trust, advised by Ryhurst, procured the building through the NHS Procure 21+ framework.

The Harbour will consolidate four existing mental health wards from across Lancashire into one purpose-built centre.

Construction of the facility is due to complete by the end of 2014, with the centre becoming fully operational by early spring 2015.
