Black & Veatch moving to City Place

The global construction and engineering consultancy has become the fourth company to sign up at Muse Developments’ One City Place in Chester.

Black & Veatch is moving around the corner from 38 City Road to 7,300 sq ft on the third floor of One City Place as part of its plans to grow the Chester office. The company will relocate in the coming months and is due to begin fitting out shortly.

Black & Veatch agreed a 10-year lease and will follow RSM, Power Solutions and Excello Law to the new office building.

Phil Mayall, development director at Muse, said: “For years there has been a significant lack of commercial space available in the city centre in terms of floor size, quality, accessibility and location. Our recent lettings are demonstrating that One City Place is addressing this need and giving the business community of Chester, and further afield, options they didn’t have before.”

CBRE and GVA are joint agents at City Place. CBRE acted for Muse on the deal, Savills acted for Black & Veatch.

City Place is partly funded by a £4.8m development loan from the North West Evergreen Fund and a £1.4m grant from the European Regional Development Fund.

City Place is a 3.5-acre development which forms part of Chester’s new central business quarter next to the Shropshire Union Canal. Muse was granted planning permission for the first phase of the City Place development in March 2013 and the building completed in 2016.
