Bill Beaumont Textiles relocates in Chorley

A company owned by former England rugby captain Bill Beaumont has relocated to Roundhouse Properties' Chorley North Business Park in Chorley, Lancashire.

Textile company Bill Beaumont Textiles, has signed a 10-year lease on Units 3 and 4, totalling over 34,000 sq ft of warehousing and office space, at a headline rent of £85,000 a year.

His company, which can trace its history back over five generations of family ownership to 1888 when Joseph Blackledge set up a small weaving shed in Chorley to supply products to local cotton markets, has moved from Park Mills in Deighton Road, Chorley.

Both units recently came on the market after a £50,000 refurbishment programme by the owner Roundhouse Properties.

The landlord was advised on the transaction by Mike Fetherstone, commercial property partner at Napthens solicitors.

Jeremy Lefton, director of Roundhouse Properties, said: "Chorley North provides the business with an excellent location, adjacent to the M6, which will help it continue to provide a first class service to its clients."

Bill Beaumont Textiles supplies to independent retailers, interior designers, manufacturers, upholsterers, mail order houses and large chain stores including John Lewis.

The property team at Harrison Drury Solicitors advised Bill Beaumont Textiles on the sale of the Park Mills site and the leasing of the new units at Chorley North.

Bill Beaumont, managing director of Bill Beaumont Textiles, added: "It has been clear for some time now that to continue growing the business profitably, we would one day have to move from Park Mills. Having such long associations with Chorley it was important to us that jobs stayed in the town and so we are delighted with our move to Chorley North Business Park, which provides us with a property that will keep the business running efficiently."

The 3.5-acre Park Mills site was sold to Newfield Construction for an undisclosed sum. The site has planning permission for housing and the company intends to build 63 new homes there.

Letting agents on Chorley North were Nick Kos at Bailey Deakin & Hamiltons and Daniel Burn at Jones Lang LaSalle.
