Bershka picks Liverpool One for North West debut

The Spanish fashion retailer will open an 8,000 sq ft store on South John Street early next year.

Bershka’s Liverpool One outlet is its first UK store in the North West and seventh overall. It operates three shops in London, and three more in Bristol, Stratford and Cardiff.

The unit Bershka is moving into at Grosvenor’s Liverpool One was previously occupied by Gap, which took the decision earlier this year to vacate the high street and concentrate on online sales.

Metis and CBRE acted for Liverpool One and Bershka was unrepresented.

Bershka is part of the Inditex fast fashion group, headed up by Pablo Isla.

The brand’s arrival takes Inditex’s presence at Liverpool One to 45,000 sq ft. Zara and Pull & Bear, other Inditex brands, also have stores on South John Street.

Alison Clegg, managing director of asset management at Grosvenor said: “Bershka selecting Liverpool One for its regional debut further demonstrates the destination’s appeal to globally renowned brands wanting to extend their reach around the UK.”

Bershka is the 36th brand to sign, open or renew its lease at Liverpool One this year, according to Grosvenor.

Gordan Ramsay’s Bread Street Kitchen, Omega, and Tessuti are among those to have arrived or taken additional space at the shopping complex in recent months.

Sales across Liverpool One in the third quarter of 2021 were 14.4% ahead of the same period in 2019, and significantly ahead of the UK average of 6.7%, Grosvenor said.

I think this is a re-entry to the Northwest market, Berskha previously had a store in Manchester a few years ago but it closed down.

Another good signing for Liverpool One and Grosvenor, while the performance figures for Liverpool One are also positive.
It begs the question of why Grosvenor aren`t extending Liverpool One and buying the former Police HQ site.
I would like to see Grosvenor attracting some of the Muji, Uniqlo type retailers ,and create an area on the Baltic side of Liverpool One , along with restaurants ,to attract that kind of shopper/customer.

Love Liverpool One. Good offer, kept clean and tidy and a really pleasant place to shop.

How Liverpool 1 integrates into the now vacant police station site is crucial of both the city centre and Liverpool 1

Great choice of city and the right choice

I do wish Manchester had something like Liverpool 1. It really puts the grim Arndale to shame. After all the progress made in revitalising Manchester city centre in the last 15 years, the Market St / Arndale area really does put the city to shame.
