Belong picks Pochin’s for £11m Southport care village

Pochin’s has started work on an £11m project in Birkdale for care provider Belong, designed by architect Pozzoni.

The four-storey development on Oxford Road will provide specialist care accommodation for more than 100 people, featuring 30 one and two-bed independent living apartments, and six 24-hour supported households, housing 12 people each.

Pochin’s has started on site and is set to deliver the scheme by 2019, and will work alongside a team including Pozzoni, TRP Consulting and BCA Landscape.

Pochin’s chief executive Jim Nicholson said: “Given their focus on supporting families and local communities, working with Belong has always felt like a great match for Pochin’s. This announcement continues a solid start to 2018 for us, with a strong project pipeline building for the coming months.”

Pozzoni has previously worked with Belong to win planning consent for a 72-bed care home on the outskirts of Chester, which was given the green light by Cheshire West & Chester Council in May last year.

Pochin’s has also delivered projects for Belong including a care village in Newcastle-under-Lyme.
