Bellway’s Middlewich proposals approved

HOW Planning has secured planning consent, subject to a Section 106 agreement, from Cheshire East Council on behalf of Bellway Homes for 149 units in the market town.

The application contained allocation for 45 affordable units all properties. All the houses would be two storey with gardens and parking. No apartments or townhouses were proposed.

Amy James, planner at HOW Planning, said: "This is a fantastic decision not only for Bellway but also for the local area as it will help provide a greater selection of housing choice. It will also help contribute to Cheshire East Council's five year supply of housing, which is something that all councils throughout the country are required to demonstrate they have a provision for."

The scheme would sit next to Warmingham Lane which leads towards the town centre. The surrounding area is mainly residential with walkable local amenities.

The proposals include public open space, a play area and landscaping.

Construction is expected to start in 2013.
