Bellway gets Leigh development under way

The housebuilder’s team has started work on roads and sewers at a seven-acre site in the town where it will build 99 homes.

Located south of Corner Lane and west of Tiverton Avenue, the Kingswood Park scheme will comprise 99 homes, made up of three-bedroom semi-detached and three- and four-bedroom detached houses.

Bellway, advised by Turley, secured planning permission for the APD-designed scheme in July 2017 in the face of spirited local opposition, with concerns raised over access. Formerly used for mining, the site has long since been grassed over, and is surrounded on three sides by housing.

The development is close to the A580 East Lancs Road, and will be Bellway’s third scheme in the area, sitting five miles away from Pocket Green in Lowton and two miles from Summerhill Park in Atherton.

Louise Chamberlain, sales director at Bellway Homes, said: “We are thrilled to announce our plans to build 99 three and four bedroom properties at Kingswood Park in Leigh. This latest land acquisition further enhances our presence in the area.”

Conditions attached to planning mean that Bellway will make financial contributions including funding towards affordable housing, open space and a contribution to the local highways.

A sales launch planned for the summer. Two showhomes will be opened later in the year.
