Bellway buys Winsford farm site

Bellway Homes has acquired 11.5 acres of land, formerly Ways Green Farm, in Winsford for a residential development of 119 properties.

The site will be known as Platts Meadow after the family who owned and farmed the land from 1800, the most recent Platts having retired through ill health.

Bellway said that it will provide a range of three bedroom semi-detached homes along with three and four -bedroom detached houses at Platts Meadow, featuring open-plan kitchen diners and en suite shower rooms to the master bedrooms. Each house will have a garage or off-road parking.

Contributions to be made by the developer include £193,044 towards education and £24,662 to enhance sports pitches and facilities at the Knight’s Grange sports complex.

Bellway has also gifted ownership of some of the development’s open land to Winsford Town Council and will pay £40,000 towards its enhancement and maintenance.

Jenny Bell, sales director at Bellway Homes, said: “On acquiring the land at Ways Green Farm we received a lovely letter from Sandra Platt detailing the family history of the farm. We loved the background and link to the Platt family since 1800 so decided that the only name for the development was Platts Meadow.

“We are thrilled that this small piece of Winsford history will be remembered for future years and are really looking forward to starting on site. We are confident Platts Meadow will be a much welcomed addition to Winsford.”
