Bellway buys site from Knowsley Community College

Bellway will start on an 87-home development in Roby in the coming months after purchasing an eight-acre site from Knowsley Community College.

The housebuilder has completed the purchase of the site off Rupert Road for an undisclosed sum, after securing planning permission for the development in November 2017.

An outline planning application for 98 homes was approved in October 2015, but Bellway’s latest reserved matters application reduced the number of homes to 87.

The homes will be a mix of three and four-bedroom detached properties, while as part of the development, Bellway will pay a Section 106 contribution of £75,000 towards the restoration of Bowring Park.

Construction is due to start in the coming weeks with a sales launch in the summer, while the first show homes will open later in the year.

Knowsley Community College announced it would sell the site in 2015 as part of a move to a consolidated campus at Stockbridge Lane and Princess Drive.

The former community college on the site has already been demolished to make way for the project. The professional team includes CBRE as planner and APD as architect.
