Beauty e-tailer takes space at Bruntwood’s Glasshouse

Online beauty product retailer CurrentBody has become the latest occupier at Bruntwood SciTech’s £30m office complex at Alderley Park in Cheshire, taking 5,300 sq ft on a 10-year lease.

CurrentBody is relocating from its headquarters on Commercial Avenue in Cheadle, after reporting increased revenues for the past five years.

Specialising in advanced home-use beauty devices, including shavers and LED skin therapy masks, CurrentBody is backed by investors BGF and Mercia Asset Management.

Glasshouse, which opened in February, forms part of Bruntwood SciTech’s £247m investment in the 400-acre Alderley Park, previously home to pharmaceuticals giant AstraZeneca before developer Bruntwood bought the site for around £40m in 2014. Bruntwood SciTech is a joint venture between Bruntwood and Legal & General.

The office complex comprises three blocks linked by a central glass atrium.

Designed by BDP, with Bridge Architects designing the fit-out, the refurbished and extended building is situated close to the Pozzoni Architects-designed Alderley Sports Complex and offers a collaborative workspace as well as space for networking and meetings in the central atrium.

Other occupiers at Glasshouse include Lokulus, which provides artificial intelligence solutions relating to customer service, digital marketing firm Venn Digital, as well as Elixir Software, which creates workflow management solutions.

Laurence Newman, chief executive of CurrentBody, said: “We have been on an upward trajectory for a number of years now and to support our growth plans we need a workspace that will match our ambitions.

“Glasshouse at Alderley Park is that space, and we’re excited about the opportunities joining this vibrant business community will bring as we accelerate our growth plans.”

Dr Kath Mackay, managing director Bruntwood SciTech Alderley Park said: “CurrentBody is a really exciting business and this move will see them join a community of tech firms and innovators that are doing some fantastic things here at Glasshouse.”

Colliers International, Hallams Property Consultants and OBI are the lettings agents for Glasshouse.
