Bathroom firm takes old Rapid space

Maghull-based Bathroom Empire has signed a ten-year lease on a former Rapid Hardware showroom now owned by Grosvenor on Renshaw Street in Liverpool city centre.

Bathroom Empire is due to open its 1,000 sq ft showroom over the Easter weekend. The firm will also occupy offices above and below the ground-floor retail unit.

Rapid Hardware vacated their Renshaw Street base to move to the former George Henry Lee/John Lewis building off Williamson Square. Grosvenor was required to find occupiers for the landmark former department store building as a planning condition of Liverpool One, where John Lewis relocated in 2008. Grosvenor acquired the Renshaw Street showrooms from, and sold part of the GHL building to, Rapid to satisfy the condition.

Stephen Edwards, sales director of Bathroom Empire, established in 2009, said: "We try to offer something a little out of the ordinary. While we can accommodate those who prefer the classic white bathroom we cater for customers who want something more unique. We also have a wide range of eco-friendly products including bamboo steam cabinets, shower panels and bowls, and baths made from cedar, teak and red oak."
