Barton Arcade snapped up for £18m
A Singapore-based company has bought Manchester’s grade two-listed Barton Arcade from real estate firm Mansford for £18.25m.
In a transaction that completed in around two weeks, Mansford has offloaded the shopping arcade, which features traders including Pot Kettle Black; Lunya; Barber Barber; and Jeffery West.
There is also office space on the upper floors, which are home to businesses such as CrowdUK; Six&Flow; and GDP Funding. The Vinden Partnership also moved out of Watch This Space into Barton Arcade in June this year.
The Manchester team of JMW Solicitors advised the purchaser along with wealth management firm Artorius.
Andrew Stone, partner at JMW Solicitors, who led the transaction team, said: “Barton Arcade is a prominent, well-located building that is a strong addition to our client’s portfolio and will no doubt prove a solid investment.
“This is our client’s second acquisition in Manchester – its only UK property assets – illustrating the city’s continued attractiveness for foreign capital.”
The Barton Arcade was formerly owned by Ireland-based property investor Morgan Leahy.
