Barnfield retained for Lancashire hotel expansion

Barnfield Construction has been appointed as construction partner for the next phase of the Stanley House Hotel development in Mellor.

Barnfield first worked with Stanley House in 2003 when it completed a major restoration and conversion of the existing Grade 2-listed, 17th Century manor house and disused barn into a hotel.

The next phase consists of a new three-storey spa and 18-room hotel building which will replicate the original architecture that was compassionately restored in 2003. There will also be lake to the rear of the spa.

Simon Glassbrook, director of Stanley House Hotel, said: "We are making a substantial investment in challenging times which highlights our confidence in the hotel, our team and the region. We expect to create over 20 permanent jobs, supporting a number of local businesses during construction. It will provide a timely economic boost to Lancashire."

Work starts on site this week and the completion date is set for spring 2012.
