Barnardo’s goes out of town

The children's charity has signed a lease on 6,000 sq ft at Cherry Tree Retail Park in Blackpool for a donation drop-off centre and store.

The larger than normal unit will allow better access for the public to drop off bulky items such as furniture. The unit will also feature a retail area selling a range of goods including clothing, electrical and furniture. Robert Pinkus & Co acted on behalf of the private landlord.

Joe Assalone, partner at Robert Pinkus & Co, said: "Barnardo's has taken a different approach to their retailing with this new signing as the store at Cherry Tree Retail Park is unlike the typical high street outlets that charities are often associated with, but compliments their existing outlets on the Fylde. The move makes logistical and commercial sense for the charity due to the close proximity to the motorway, passing local and visitor traffic and the popularity of the retail park due to nearby retailers such as Asda, Bensons Beds Centre and Storey Carpets. We wish them every success in their new location."

A good news story, which is great to see. Here, at MAZE Planning Solutions, we are pleased to have secured the permission needed to get Barnardo’s installed at Cherry Tree Retail Park, and wish to acknowledge the great support we had in that exercise from the officers at Blackpool Council.
